STAMFORD, CT — Today, Democrat Eilish Collins Main announced her candidacy for Connecticut’s 146th State House District in the heart of Stamford, which is comprised of downtown Stamford, the South End, Harbor Point, and Shippan. Born in Stamford, businesswoman Collins Main raised her three children here. Since then, she has emerged as a strong community leader and a passionate activist after running campaigns for state and local candidates as well as bipartisan, issue-based initiatives.
“Through my own lived experiences, I know what it means to be the child of immigrants, to be a working parent in need of high quality, affordable childcare, and to navigate health care and social services for an aging parent,” said Collins Main. “When I listen to residents in our district, I hear their concerns about everything from affording monthly expenses and improving pedestrian safety and creating safe, walkable neighborhoods to our need to focus on greater sustainability and resilience as a coastal community.”
With a successful career in marketing and business development in the EdTech sector, Collins Main brings valuable skills to public service as a communicator and consensus builder. In addition to her decade-long commitment to Building One Community, a Stamford non-profit providing comprehensive resources for recent immigrants, Collins Main is also an active member of the Stamford Democratic Party, and a volunteer with the Board of the League of Women Voters, the Police Activities League PAL ART Program, and the outreach programs at Saint Francis Epispocal Church. She also serves as a Personnel Commissioner for the City of Stamford.
“I understand the challenges of everyday life in Stamford, and I also understand that the 146th District is a microcosm of the diversity and vibrancy that defines Stamford,” Collins Main added.
”I look forward to meeting and listening to more area residents, hearing what matters to them, and becoming a supportive advocate in Hartford to help enact meaningful legislation that serves the needs of the people in the heart of Stamford.”
